The residents of Markham Village are questioning why Markham Road, south of Hwy 7 (also known as Vinegar Hill) was recently re-constructed with only 3 lanes for traffic. The current proposal is for two southbound lanes and one northbound lane. Area residents are concerned with the amount of traffic during peak times, and are asking for reversible lanes. This would enable two southbound lanes during morning rush hour, and two northbound lanes during evening rush hour.
Markham Ward 4 Councillor Karen Rea has asked city staff to consider the possibility of implementing reversible lanes.
